Bio
Ms. Jin-Ling Chen joined the foreign service in 1997 as a Taiwanese diplomat.
She was born in Miaoli, a central western county of Taiwan, and grew up and studied in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan.
Ms. Chen received her bachelor’s degree in diplomacy from National Chengchi University in Taiwan and a master’s degree in European Studies from Tamkang University in Taiwan.
She assumed her current post in July 2021 as Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, de facto Consul General of Taiwan, in Toronto.
Previously she served as deputy chief of Taiwan’s mission in Hanoi, Vietnam. Her other foreign postings include Honolulu, U.S., and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
While in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she was involved in various areas of work including human resources, consular affairs, diplomat training, and American affairs.
She attended Oxford University for its diplomatic program in 1997 and Harvard University for its leaders’ program in 2016. She is married with twin daughters and always strives to balance her career and family with strong support from her husband.
