7-Eleven to Accept Chinese Mobile Payment Systems

7-Eleven has become the first convenience retailer in Canada to accept Chinese mobile payment systems. 35 locations in Metro Vancouver and Toronto now accept Alipay and WeChat, and the retailer plans to expand in the next few months. In Vancouver area, customers will be able to pay with Chinese mobile payment systems in 18 Vancouver, six Richmond, and one Burnaby 7-Eleven locations. WeChat is a Chinese multi-purpose messaging, social media, and mobile payment system that has more than a billion users, and Alipay, the payment system for Alibaba online retail, has more than 500 million active users.
