The Canadian Chambers of Commerce in Hong Kong, Macao, and the Pearl River Delta (PRD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership on December 3rd, 2018 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. With the Greater Bay Area poised to become one of the largest bay area economies in the world, the strategic partnership between the three Chambers will help Canadian businesses tap into an economy with a combined GDP of US$1.5 trillion. The MoU will allow each of the Chambers to leverage the strengths of their respective jurisdictions while strengthening the Canadian business community as a whole. Highlights of the MoU include a commitment to information exchange on policy and market developments, collaboration on policy and advocacy initiatives, sharing of best practices, and amplifying the voice of the Canadian business community in the region. Founded in 1977, CanChamHK is one of the largest Canadian business organizations outside of Canada. Newly established in 2018, CanCham PRD is a formal platform for Canadian professionals and entrepreneurs to connect, share resources and build a community of support in the Pearl River Delta region of South China. Since 2004 CanCham Macao’s community-based digital platform and year-round initiatives have allowed the Chamber to serve the Macau Canadian community and facilitate trade and interaction between Canadian companies and the Macau market.
