Dominique Caouette

Professor at the Department of Political Science at the University of Montreal, Dominique Caouette is currently Asian and Indo-Pacific Studies Chair and Acting Director of the Asian Studies Center. He also leads of the Observatory on Human Rights.  

Dominique teaches courses on international relations and Southeast Asian politics. His research works revolve around issues civil society, transnational social movements, land and natural resources, and contentious politics in Southeast Asia, particularly in the Philippines. These research areas led to articles and co-edited books including Agrarian Angst and Rural Resistance in Contemporary Southeast Asia (Routledge, 2009), Solidarities Beyond Borders : Transnationalizing Women’s Movements (UBC Press, 2010), Beyond Colonialism, Development and Globalization: Social Movements and Critical Perspectives (Zed Books, 2016), and more recently, L’Asie du Sud-Est à la croisée des puissances (PUM, 2019), and Enjeux et défis du développement international: Acteurs et champs d’action (PUO, 2019).
