Eduardo Jose De Vega
His Excellency Eduardo José A. de Vega is currently the Philippine Undersecretary (Deputy Minister) for Migration Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs, leading the migration governance of the Philippines. He served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and the European Union from 2018 to 2022. Prior to this, he was appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Mexico and concurrently to Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic, holding office from 2016 to 2018.
Before his ambassadorial appointments, Deputy Minister de Vega was the Deputy Permanent Representative at the Philippine Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York from 2012 to 2014, and held the position of Minister at the same mission from 2011 to 2012, contributing significantly to the advancement of Philippine foreign policy on the global stage. Additionally, given his legal expertise, he was also the Assistant Secretary for Legal Affairs from 2014 to 2016 and Director for Legal Treaties Office of Legal Affairs, from 2005 to 2006.
This year, he received the Gawad Mabini Award, the highest Presidential award given in recognition of Filipinos who have rendered distinguished service in the field of foreign affairs, to promote the interests of Filipinos and the prestige of the Philippines abroad.
