Charlene Brophy is President & CEO of FONEMED, a globally renowned telehealth and virtual care enterprise. Charlene is committed to transforming health care access, believing in the power of collaborative partnerships to build a more resilient, effective, and sustainable health care system. 

Charlene has extended her firsthand understanding of the health care system to underserved regions in developing countries and communities across North America, Latin America, and Asia. Fonemed's team of several hundred employees facilitates Canadian, U.S., and international operations, ensuring health care access for over 40 million individuals globally, managing 100,000 remote patient visits each month. Fonemed bridges the gap in health care accessibility for communities that would otherwise lack essential services. 

Charlene has been recognized by multiple organizations for her success in the business community. She was awarded Newfoundland and Labrador’s Organization of Women Entrepreneur’s (NLOWE) Entrepreneurial Excellence Award in November 2020. She has been the recipient of four Business Excellence Awards from The St. John's Board of Trade. She was awarded the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) Innovator of the Year by Atlantic Business Magazine in 2017 and recognized as one of the Top 50 CEOs in Atlantic Canada for 2017 through 2021.  

Charlene was inducted into the Business Excellence Hall of Fame by Atlantic Business Magazine in May 2021, and into the NL Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame in May 2024.  

In addition to her professional commitments, Charlene is a tireless advocate for female leadership, actively mentoring and supporting women entrepreneurs as they embark on or consider entrepreneurial journeys. She maintains a strong connection to her community and is deeply committed to giving back to the country and the province that have been crucial pillars of support throughout her career.
