The mass tragedy that shattered a joyful celebration of Filipino culture in a Vancouver neighbourhood last night has left all Canadians in shock and grief. For a tragedy such as this to happen under any circumstance is deeply traumatizing, but when it strikes a single community group in the midst of a joyful celebration sharing its culture and kinship with the wider community, it is especially difficult to bear. Our hearts go out to the Filipino-Canadian community and all those in Greater Vancouver and beyond touched by this terrible tragedy.
