This event is part of TIFF’s A Century of Chinese Cinema ‘Roundtables and Talks’ series, of which APF Canada’s National Conversation on Asia is a co-presenter. TIFF Bell Lightbox Artistic Director Noah Cowan moderates this roundtable discussion that brings together filmmakers, film scholars and programmers to explore connections and divergences between the Fourth and Fifth Generations of Chinese filmmakers in the 1970s and 1980s. Special guests include Chinese filmmakers Chen Kaige and Xie Fe, University of Toronto film scholar Bart Testa and Chen Biqiang (pen name Chen Mo), a Senior Research Fellow at the China Film Archive.
