You’re invited to Mentor Walks’ very first Vancouver event!
Since 2016 we’ve connected over 7000 women around the world with senior diverse leaders in their local communities. And now, it’s time to bring the women of Vancouver together for mentoring with a difference.
Walk and talk with exceptional female mentors in Vancouver, there to help you find the answers to your career questions. Women at any stage of their careers are welcome, in any industry, and there is no question too big or too small.
When it comes to stepping forward in your career, there’s nothing like meeting face-to-face to leave you feeling inspired, empowered and armed with the tools you need.
Location: Meet at Canada Place (next to the Olympic Torch) and walk along Seawall Water Walk.
Cost: $33.00
What is Mentor Walks?
The concept is simple: you and up to two other aspiring mentees spend an hour walking and talking with an exceptional female mentor. It’s a safe and supportive space to get clear on your career progression, discuss work worries, share experiences and build relationships. Our mentors are women with 20+ years of leadership experience to share.
How does it work?
We hand-match you with a mentor best suited to support you, and the mentees you have the most in common with. When you book, we’ll ask you a little bit about your professional background and what you’d like to discuss. There’s no question too big, too small or too vague, and it’s okay if you don’t have a specific issue at all! The purpose of Mentor Walks is to help you get clarity and step forward.
Who are the mentors?
Our mentors are the real deal. They have likely been in your shoes and they intimately understand the pressures and problems faced by women in Vancouver. They are diverse CEOs, directors, executives, entrepreneurs and trail-blazing leaders in their fields that share the same mission - to help women succeed and get the guidance they need. Some of these leading women include:
Mhairi Petrovic, Founder, Out-Smarts Marketing
Libby Senez, CFO, Torq Resources
Sue Robins, Senior Partner at BirdComm & Author
Who is it for?
Our mentees join Mentor Walks for a variety of reasons. Some of the most common include:
- Feeling stuck or unsure how to progress
- New to the area and want to build meaningful relationships
- Struggling with a particular challenge and need reliable and confidential advice
- Wanting to change industries or roles and unsure how to start
- Advice on launching a new business
- Dealing with imposter syndrome and building confidence
- Suffering with burnout or lack of motivation
- Leadership aspirations and managing successfully
Whether you’ve got a particular issue to discuss or you’re just keen to connect with a network of inspiring professional women, Mentor Walks is for you.
What are the finer details?
The walk starts at 7:10am and finishes at 8:30am.
Wear whatever you’re comfortable to walk in - that can just be a pair of joggers over your work outfit, or activewear. We’ve run plenty of events in cold climates and it’s always well worth the chilly start! We’ll communicate our wet-weather plans to you ahead of time if need be.
Conditions of participation: Mentor Walks prioritises the health, safety and wellbeing of our community and abides by the COVID safe guidelines for Vancouver, BC.
