Ralph J. Lutes
Ralph Lutes was appointed Vice President, Asia of Teck Resources Limited in May, 2011 and Executive Director & General Manager of Teck China in October, 2014. Mr. Lutes is responsible for Teck's corporate portfolio and presence in Asia, which includes marketing, macroeconomic and market research teams, government and investor relations functions and development of new markets in the region, with an emphasis on China and India. Prior to joining Teck, he practiced corporate and commercial law with a leading Canadian firm in its Toronto, Hong Kong and Vancouver offices. Ralph also spent five years based in Singapore as managing director and counsel with a major Canadian bank, with responsibility for the Far East and Australia. Ralph holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of New Brunswick and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) degree from Queen's University. He has served on boards of public, private and non-profit corporations and developed and taught a course in corporate governance for graduate students at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia. Ralph is based in Beijing.
