Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Long

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam

Dr. Long first joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam in 1999.  

His first posting at the Embassy of Viet Nam in Italy was followed by a secondment to the National Commission for the organization of Summit of Asia – Pacific Economic Forum 2006 (APEC) in Viet Nam.  

Dr. Long next served as Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Europe Department before receiving his first ambassadorial posting in 2012 to Italy, Malta, Cyprus and San Marino.  

In June 2021, he was named Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to the U.K. and Ireland. Dr. Long has been Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry since June 2024.     

Deputy Minister Long holds a bachelor’s degree in the Economics of Public Administrations and International Organizations from Bocconi University in Italy, and a PhD in Economics of Public Administrations and Public Enterprises from University of Rome Tor Vergata. He has also studied at Oxford, Harvard, and Princeton.  

He has received numerous national and international awards including recognition as a “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum in 2014 and the Order of Merit “Grand Officer” from Italy in 2015.
