Karine Mailhot-Sarrasin
Karine Mailhot-Sarrasin is the Chief Communications Officer at WaterShed Monitoring, a leader in providing soft-infrastructure solutions for the sustainable management of water resources. Karine plans and drives WaterShed’s strategic communications and marketing strategies in Canada and Europe and spearheads business development efforts across Southeast Asia. With a focus on expanding partnerships and market opportunities in countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Laos and the Philippines, Karine plays a critical role in shaping WaterShed Monitoring’s growth by building relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the water ecosystem, including public authorities, NGOs, private sector, universities, and impact investment funds, in order to address the region’s pressing water challenges and empower local communities to achieve the United Nations’ sixth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG6).
Over the past decade, Karine has been instrumental in positioning WaterShed Monitoring as a key player in the global water industry, focusing on promoting the company’s innovative solutions while elevating the sector’s best practices and advancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives. She frequently represents WaterShed Monitoring at international forums, where she shares insights on sustainable water management, the role of technology in environmental monitoring, and business development in emerging markets. Her leadership in crafting high-impact marketing campaigns, service proposals, and grant applications has contributed directly to the company’s success and has been pivotal in securing numerous awards and accolades, such as being recognized as Best Canadian Startup in France.
Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Karine’s passion for languages and global cultures has been a defining force throughout her life. She holds a bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Modern Languages with a minor in Communications from Laval University, and a graduate diploma in Translation from the University of Montreal. She has published 15 translated literary works and is fluent in French, English, Spanish, and German. She is currently expanding her linguistic capabilities by learning Vietnamese, further enhancing her ability to engage across diverse markets.
