Sun Ryung Park
Sun Ryung Park is a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at the University of British Columbia. She is also the recipient of the 2023 Pacific Trade and Development Fellowship for Young Scholars and the 2024 Taiwan Fellowship by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan. She served as Liu Scholar (2021-2022) at the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs, and an Institute of Asian Research Fellow (2021-2023) at the Centre for Korean Studies, IAR, UBC.
Her research focuses on green transition and energy security in South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan in the U.S.-China rivalry context. Her scholarly endeavours involve a comparative analysis of the resurgence of state intervention and the revitalization of traditional and innovative tools of industrial policy, driven by the intense competition among states in the green technology race.
Sun obtained her MA and BA in Political Science and International Relations from Korea University, Seoul, South Korea. Prior to her Ph.D. program at UBC, she worked at the East Asia Institute in Seoul and completed an internship at the Korea Society in New York.
